Customs Information System Project
The mission of Customs division is to collect the revenue for the good of Palau, protect the borders and facilitate legitimate trade. The Customs division also protects the Palauan public by closely monitoring the Republic’s points of entry and the import and export of restricted and illegal goods.
The Division of Customs is situated in four locations: Malakal Main Office, Malakal Port, National Post Office, and the Airport. The current application is in Microsoft Access/Visual Basic and has a back end of MSSQL application running on the network. The application is limited by its features and network design.
WebPlus Technology apply the development experience by our professional system integration and internet application development and years of experience of the Taiwan e-Government project team in system planning, designing, software development. The complete solution provides Division of Customs having confidence in our managing and technical ability for accomplishment this project.
The scopes of work:
- Develop Customs Information System – Upgrade Customs application and move away from MS Access to Microsoft SQL.
- Develop E-Filing System- A system where people can file their customs form online.
- Develop Customs Website – Customs wants to host its own website together with E-Filing System.
- Implement Application, Database and Storage servers.
- File Server – Network access server for users to store files.
- Backup Server – A back-up server for databases.
- Replace PCs – there are 50 PCs that currently needs replacing.
- Anti-virus for all PCs on the network – All computers that will connect to the customs network must have anti-virus installed.
- Upgrade Customs Network infrastructure – Redesign Customs office network on all 4 customs office locations.
- Wifi – Provide wireless access to Customs employees.
